The Story & Challenge
Restoring a historic St. Louis World’s Fair-era home comes with a duty to honor its original architectural soul. While the rest of the house had been lovingly restored, this primary bathroom felt stuck in an awkward past remodel. An oversized pool-style tub crowded the space, and an original doorway leading to a sunporch had been walled over, leaving only a tiny transom window to let in natural light.

The Construction-Minded Solution
Our team uncovered and reopened the original sunporch doorway to restore natural light and historic character to the space. By removing the bulky tub, we freed up space for an expansive open shower and lined the walls with traditional moldings to tie the room seamlessly into the home’s 1904 heritage.

A freestanding vintage-style soaking tub set against a custom marble backsplash, wall-mounted lavatory faucets that maximize counter space, custom wall moldings repeated in marble inside the shower, and a stately built-in vanity desk.
