This year has been unlike any other. With COVID-19 disrupting the lives of every single person, we were faced with new challenges, hardships, and obstacles to navigate. Along with this though, we had the opportunity to spend time with family, learn new lessons, and build up our resilience. This has truly been an unforgettable journey. In light of everything, we’ve taken the time to reflect on the joys this year brought us. February The biggest event in February for us was the Design STL’s Architect & Designer Awards, ADA Awards. Owner Todd won Best Millwork for the family’s home bar. Designer Wendy had 3 nominations in the final round, and won Best Powder Room. Designer Janelle was a finalist in two categories, Traditional Kitchen Greater than 300 sq ft. and Traditional Bathroom Greater than 150 sq ft.. We couldn’t be more proud of the amazing work our team has done! September To kick off the Fall season, we welcomed Ashley Willman Obradovits to the team and announced the launch of our new Interior Design department. Ashley, daughter of the late accomplished local designer, Sonja Willman (Summer House), is carrying on her mother’s legacy with her own touch. October The Karr […]

Read MoreThis year has been… a mess. We’ve all faced new challenges and have been forced to adapt to the ever changing state of the world. Through all of this, we’ve been trying to focus on what makes us happy, what we’re thankful for, and the positive outcomes. In honor of Thanksgiving, we’d like to share some of the things we’re grateful for. Owner Jenny “I think there has been a bright side to COVID. I wouldn’t have enrolled my kids in a private, which has turned out to be really healthy for them. People wouldn’t be home looking around and finding a million remodel projects. In June, we got to visit Yellowstone. Due to COVID, it was almost empty. It was the most wonderful family vacation we have ever had. We’ve also had some amazing family movie nights, because the world was closed. I am grateful for all the people I work with every day. They can find humor in anything, everyday life or a global pandemic. We raise each other up and keep each other going.” Designer Wendy “I was thankful to get to spend Spring working from home and watching my beautiful flower beds bloom. It was nice […]
Read MoreWith a long to-do list of projects around the house, the homeowners became overwhelmed and wanted to throw in the towel and move. After much convincing by their daughters, they decided on a complete remodel instead and called Karr Bick to help rescue them. When approaching Designer Wendy, the homeowners had clear insight on what they wanted. With Scandinavian family roots, the goal was to blend functionality and simplicity with natural beauty. Originally, the kitchen was dark and featured several hues of beige. After it’s transformation, this space feels like a breath of fresh air. The moonstone color blocked cabinets add a modern flair. The zellige backsplash, which wraps around the whole kitchen, provide interest and is complimented by dark features. Blonde wood shelving brings warmth to the kitchen but still rings true of the color theme. Lastly, inspired by the nature seen through the windows, an organic light fixture hangs above the breakfast table. Through these different design dynamics, the space has evolved to fit the feel and function the homeowners desired. The fireplace, which served as the centerpiece of their living room, was completely outdated. The goal was to make the fireplace seem like it was meant to […]

Read MoreAt Karr Bick, we’ve been lucky enough to have clients who’ve braved into our exclusive color package. Adding color to a space is one of our favorite ways to take things to the next level, so we’re always eager when someone leans into this adventure. Let’s not forget that the advantages of color are abundant! Like any journey, a color quest is always easier with a map. Luckily for you, we happen to have that map handy! In order to help guide you on your color journey, we’ve teamed up with some of our favorite vendors to bring you an exclusive package. This bundle has helped our clients expand their color palette, and the spaces that have come out of it are nothing short of stunning! To begin their color journey, a local family worked with Designer Rebekah. After fully understanding the family’s personality and their vision of the spaces, they embarked on tackling them in a colorful way. Since the project involved three different bathrooms, the clients and Rebekah agreed to experiment in different ways. Whether it was the tile or cabinet color, each bathroom resulted in a stunning space. Now that the projects are close to being completed, […]
Read MoreAs American poet William Carlos Williams puts it, “In summertime, the song sings itself.” The crickets harmonize in their greeting of the night. The sizzling of a barbecue underwraps. The gentle crash of water splashing in the pool. To some, the sounds of summer are the sweetest of the year. For a local family, this was one of the reasons to look at using an existing space in a new way. Now completed, the once carriage house has transformed into a #NothingOrdinary space. In collaboration with Designer Wendy, the family has created a space that fits their entertainment and summer needs. Little details, such as an outdoor shower, beautiful blue cabinets, and an impromptu bar, make the space the ultimate game changer. With retractable doors, the entire pool house can open up to the lovely view the pool provides. Not only is this perfect for entertainment needs, it also optimizes the space to its full potential. Parents are able to enjoy the living room, while also keeping an eye on their kids enjoying the pool. One of the main highlights of this room is the arched cottage windows. Not only are they ringing true of the original purpose of the […]

It’s the jolt of energy you feel after just a single glance at something you love, or the soft pause that makes your heart flutter. It’s the seemingly instant sense of clarity and certainty allowing you to discover new possibilities. Regardless if it’s travel, color, landscapes, or texture that gives you this feeling, one thing is for certain, you’ve been struck by inspiration. On her vacation this year, Owner Jenny, visited Yellowstone National Park, and surrounding parts of Montana. While away, she couldn’t stop noticing how the natural textures of the landscape had a perfect contrast with the smooth blue sky. Throughout her time there, Jenny was consistently amazed by Mother Nature’s perfect might. She recounts part of her journey in saying, “The beautiful experience grabbed my insides and would not let go; perfect grasslands with grazing buffalo, and my children playing in piles of snow shoeless….all with those glorious Tetons watching over us.” For some, it may be local shopping or pictures hung on the wall. Nevertheless, if it makes you feel something, you’re on the right track. Allow […]
