With the warmer weather approaching, you can find us outside enjoying the sunlight more and more. Since more barbeques, bonfires, outdoor dinner parties, and sipping on coffee while watching the sunrise are on the way, we’ve created the all-in-one guide on creating a beautiful outdoor setting. Start with a Foundation Though rugs are traditionally thought of for interiors, they are also fantastic for outdoor spaces. This will help add color, pattern, texture, or all of the above. Determine how you want the space to feel, and then pick a rug. If you’re going for a more coastful vibe, go for a jute rug. If you want the space to feel bright and cheerful, find a rug with more color and pattern. With your lovely rug set in place, your outdoor setting will automatically feel warm and inviting. Bring on the Furniture Now that you’ve got your foundation, it’s time to build. Furniture is the easiest place to add texture. Keep in mind that you need something with maximum durability. In most cases, it’s best to go with a furniture set. This will help create a seamless flow and bring the surrounding nature into focus. Of course, it’s always fun to […]

Read MoreToo many homes have an overlooked bookcase. Most can be found cluttered with books and pictures that don’t have any intention behind their placement. While the function of bookcases are self-explanatory, let us not forget that they’re an easy way to add a touch of#NothingOrdinary. If you follow the tips below, you’ll find yourself with stunning bookshelves that feel effortlessly chic. It’s Not All About the Books While your bookcase should of course be home to some books, they shouldn’t be the only thing found on your shelves. Pictures, artwork, vases, baskets, and knick knacks are just a couple of examples of how to mix it up. This will help break up the pattern and make everything feel meant to be. It also gives you more freedom as to what you want to be showcased. Start with Larger Items First First things first, make sure your bookshelves are completely clear. This will give you the blank canvas needed to work your magic. After that, start by placing the larger items. These might be decorative vases, artwork, or baskets. By placing these objects first, you allow yourself more design freedom with the smaller pieces, which are naturally easier to play around […]
Read MoreThe story of this cottage is truly special. Tucked away in a valley that is home to a community of people who have grown up with each other generationally. It’s a place that has no lack of love and is even where you can find Owner Jenny’s thinking road. Since the community is rooted in its rich history, the homeowner wanted to stay true to the valley’s spirit, but also make it a functional space that fit the family’s personality. In the beginning, the historic cottage had one main room, a porch, and was built on the original tent platform. With uneven floors, rotting boards, and water damaged walls, there was quite a bit of rehab work to do. To see more before pictures, head over to our before & after portfolio. To make the space feel more open and airy, Jenny opened up the kitchen to what was once the main room. This allows for optimal gathering space for the father and sons. To make the space really come alive, pieces of the old and new are found throughout. The trunk, which is being used as a coffee table, is original to the cottage and even has handwritten notes […]

Read MoreAs you read in our last blog, we’ve had the honor to welcome designer Ashley Willman Obradovits to our team! Her story, which you can hear more about on our YouTube channel, is truly #NothingOrdinary. One of her proudest design moments was the completion of her daughter’s nursery. After moving into their Cape Cod style house, Ashley and her husband found out they were going to welcome their first child. The second floor had been an attic space, but after finding out she was expecting a girl, Ashley wanted nothing more than to start designing. “I couldn’t wait,” she said. When seeking for inspiration, Ashley had fallen in love with Michelle Morin’s watercolor. She knew she wanted it to be her starting place and her guide throughout the design process. “Not only was it perfect for the nursery, it was also the perfect thing for her to grow into.” Much like her mother, Sonja Willman, Ashley has a deep love for mixing the old with the new. Within this space, she knew she wanted to include precious family heirlooms that were dear to her heart. The nightstand came from the home she grew up in. There’s a bunny needlepoint piece, […]
