The moment you walk into this space you feel at home. With its large island and windows overlooking a charming patio, it is a place you want to sit down and stay awhile. Maximizing every inch of this 460 square foot kitchen, we not only wanted a beautiful space but a place that would work well for our client’s busy family’s lifestyle. We incorporated lots of storage, large appliances and seating at the island for her four children. This provided endless counterspace for cooking, homework and whatever else the day might bring.

With the window and sink not being centered on the wall, getting the layout of the island, pendant lighting and ceiling grid was a challenge. To make the layout work we designed the island as a center point for lighting as well as tying the cabinet’s crown molding into the ceiling grid.

Another challenge was working a majority of the appliances into the space while still maintaining the light and airy feel-not weighing it down with a wall of stainless steel. To achieve this, we created a magnificent wall of millwork by framing the 36” Sub Zero Refrigerator and 36” Sub Zero Freezer with custom panels and wainscot columns. To hide the remaining everyday items, we included a few appliance garages into the design. We chose a 48” Wolf rangetop with a downdraft in the island so we didn’t have to worry about a bulky hood breaking up the view.

But the real showstopper in this kitchen is the Calacatta Oro Marble countertops and backsplash. They’re stunning and complete the timeless look of this kitchen.
