Powder Room Roundup
April 11, 2021
There’s nothing like a beautiful powder room. Since they’re usually one of the smallest rooms in a home, they’re the easiest to experiment in. For some that means colorful patterned wallpaper, while others may go for a darker hue for a moody space. Regardless, our love for powder rooms will never end. For this blog, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite powder rooms that packed a #NothingOrdinary punch.
First Things First
Before we begin, let’s talk about the difference between powder rooms and other bathrooms found in your home. Powder rooms are often referred to as half baths or the guest bathroom. No showers or tubs can be found here. Though they have basic functions, they don’t have to have a boring design!
Go Bold or Go Home
One can naturally envision Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly applying lipstick in this powder bathroom. This small but mighty bathroom feels bold, fresh and perfectly dramatic. Graphic and bold, it reflects the stylish times of the art deco days. The major push in this space was the all black paint color. It sounded crazy. Where to start and where to stop? Would it be too dark? Would the character get lost in the all black? The designer encouraged adding a wainscot wall treatment design. She assured the homeowner that the wainscot wood treatment would add the depth and dimension, especially as it would be applied from floor to ceiling. It sure worked out perfectly – everything looks glorious and glamorous.
A Touch of Great Gatsby
The powder room speaks for itself. Beautiful patterned wallpaper makes the space feel graceful and effortless. Built-in shelving allows for seamless storage without making the space feel cluttered. To finish off the space, the beaded chandelier is the cherry on top.
Scandinavian Inspired
For this powder room, Schumacher’s Wild Things wallpaper felt perfect. Accompanied by a modern sink with crisp lines, there’s a natural balance between the wallpaper’s organic figures and the sharpness of surrounding rooms. Black fixtures help the room feel elevated, while also keeping to the classic color scheme. Lastly, light wood flooring adds warmth to the space.
