Most people walk into a room and see what is there.

The team at Karr Bick sees what could be.

They see possibility where others see limitations. An outdated kitchen becomes the heart of a home once more. A cramped bathroom becomes a sanctuary. An awkward floor plan becomes an opportunity. Most importantly, they see the people who will live there and design accordingly.

At Karr Bick, every project begins with a simple belief: home matters.

Not because of the finishes or furnishings, but because homes are where life happens. Families gather and grow. Traditions take root. Children leave and eventually return with children of their own. The spaces that serve a family well in one season of life may need to serve them differently in the next.

That is why Karr Bick begins not with materials or floor plans, but with questions. How does a family live today? What frustrations do they experience in their current space? How do they hope to live tomorrow? What should this home make possible?

The answers become the foundation for everything that follows.

Creating #NothingOrdinary spaces requires more than beautiful design. It requires the ability to see possibilities others might miss.

Many of the homes Karr Bick transforms have stories of their own. Original millwork, historic plaster, aging floor plans, and architectural details connect a home to its past. Preserving those elements while creating spaces that support modern life requires creativity, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for the homes entrusted to their care.

That respect runs deep.

Years ago, co-owner Todd Rausch became fascinated by the iconic cupola at Grant’s Farm. What began as admiration became a personal passion project. Over several years, he hand-built a 700-pound replica, complete with a copper top, and installed it atop his own garage. It may seem unusual, but for those who know Todd, it makes perfect sense. He sees architecture not simply as construction, but as history, craftsmanship, and art.

That same mindset guides Karr Bick’s work today.

Remodeling is rarely as straightforward as it appears. Behind walls, unexpected challenges often emerge. Hidden structural issues, aging systems, and century-old surprises can quickly turn excitement into anxiety. Karr Bick’s designers, construction professionals, and project managers work together under one roof, solving problems collaboratively and guiding clients through the process with honesty and transparency.

The result is something every homeowner wants but rarely talks about: peace of mind. It comes from knowing your home is in capable hands. Ultimately, it comes down to trust.

“Magic happens when a client says, ‘You’re the experts, we trust you,'” says Todd. “That’s when we have the freedom to push design boundaries and create something truly unique.”

Those moments are where the Karr Bick philosophy comes to life. A family gains a kitchen that finally works the way they live. A historic home finds new life without losing its soul. Spaces become more functional, more beautiful, and more reflective of the people who call them home.

In the end, great design is never just about cabinetry, fixtures, or finishes. It is about helping families love where they live. It is about honoring the history of a home while preparing it for the people who will write its next chapter.

That is the art of home.

That is #NothingOrdinary.
