A Classic Bath, Reconsidered
This bathroom required a complete rethinking of the space. The existing layout was firmly rooted in a 1990s remodel, complete with carpeted flooring, angled ceiling lines with plant ledges, and a raised tub platform that wrapped 2 sides of the tub. While generous in size, the space was inefficient and visually fragmented.
The redesign focused on correcting the layout first. Relocating the shower and creating a dedicated toilet room allowed the space to function far more effectively and feel more intentional overall. Once the plan was resolved, we layered in materials that brought warmth and timeless character.
Wood vanities and classic wainscoting ground the room and add architectural structure, while the checkerboard floor introduces pattern in a way that feels traditional rather than trendy. In the shower, deep navy tile provides contrast and a strong point of visual interest without overpowering the space.
The transformation is substantial, one that’s best understood by seeing the before and after side by side. What was once dated and awkward is now a balanced, functional bathroom that feels classic, comfortable, and built to last.
