This mudroom had to be functional for cold Wisconsin winters. The boot bench and cubbies normally house giant baskets filled with winter boots and mittens.  The coat hooks often overflow with coats for any kind of weather.  The open and easy-to-get-to storage solution allows for all the gear to dry after they’ve been in the wind, rain, and snow.   The durable bead board finish protects against hard use and also adds another architectural element to the design.  The shaker cabinets provide great storage solutions for all the mail, chargers and random paper supplies.  The laundry room design incorporates space for sorting the laundry and organizing the detergents. Even when small space planning you can still hide things like built-in ironing boards in the wall, storage for cleaning supplies, and extra towels and rags in upper wall cabinets. The porcelain tile floor is a work horse in this functional laundry and mud room design.
