Indigo Kitchen Story
November 18, 2019
The challenge was to redesign the kitchen to match the homeowner’s more contemporary tastes, while updating the layout and making the two imposing columns feel meant-to-be in the new design. The indigo color – such a striking blue color and so fun to design with – was chosen for a crisp, clean-lined, progressive look. All hardware accents are chrome to go with the neoteric feel. The pendants above the island were selected for their modern appearance, as well as for the glass to help keep the space feel open. The new island was designed around the columns while an applied wainscot decorative wood treatment was installed and paint matched the indigo color to make them feel built-in and purposeful. To top them off, the Ravelle wall sconces were installed within the columned wainscots for a bar-like feel. The backsplash tile is dynamic – it has varying shades of glossy grey colors which add texture and dimension. The quartz countertops are a dramatic statement with bold blue veins. An unexpected touch to the modernized space is the industrial chrome open shelf system. Bold and blue, chrome and crisp, you feel an avant-garde factor as you enter this kitchen.
