With a long to-do list of projects around the house, the homeowners became overwhelmed and wanted to throw in the towel and move. After much convincing by their daughters, they decided on a complete remodel instead and called Karr Bick to help rescue them. When approaching Designer Wendy, the homeowners had clear insight on what they wanted. With Scandinavian family roots, the goal was to blend functionality and simplicity with natural beauty. Originally, the kitchen was dark and featured several hues of beige. After it’s transformation, this space feels like a breath of fresh air. The moonstone color blocked cabinets add a modern flair. The zellige backsplash, which wraps around the whole kitchen, provides interest and is complimented by dark features. Open wood shelving brings warmth to the kitchen but still rings true of the color theme. The fireplace, which served as the centerpiece of their living room, was completely outdated. The goal was to make the fireplace seem like it was meant to be. With a custom build, the fireplace now reflects simple and functional modernization. Accented blonde wood brings warmth to the space, while also connecting it to the surrounding rooms. In order to open up the space, […]
Read MoreOriginally, this space was split into two. On one side, you’d find a mirrored wall coupled with a bathtub that jetted out into the open. The other side had dark vanities that faced each other. To take full advantage of all the space, the transformation called for a readjustment of the amenities. By rearranging the bathroom, every square inch was used to its fullest capacity. The beautiful blue and marble brings a sophisticated look. The tiled shower gives off a clean and crisp look with gold fixtures. This gold is carried throughout the space, which gives it an element of warmth. In the beginning, this wasn’t a bathroom that one would want to spend too long in. Now though, there is a separate vanity made especially for spending time there. The printed cushion seat, optimal natural light, and mirrors are perfect for getting ready for a night out. Brilliantly designed by Wendy.

While these space’s original form were functionally sound, the homeowners didn’t get that sense of true representation. After their transformation, it felt like the missing piece to the puzzle had finally been found. Now, these spaces are polished and sophisticated. In the kitchen, you’ll find semi-distressed gray cabinetry, which helps keep the space feeling fresh. Marble countertops and a tiled backsplash that wraps around half of the kitchen pull out the cooling hues found in the cabinets. In contrast to all of this, the island showcases dark wood. This addition aids in the moodiness of the space. Since there is a seamless flow between the kitchen and surrounding rooms, this space feels meant to be. This bathroom is the ultimate relaxation station. The tub, which could make anyone feel like royalty, sits just in front of the windows. The same color theme seen in the kitchen carries into the bathroom, which brings the same sophisticated feeling. The high ceiling allowed for a beautiful chandelier making the space feel even more luxurious. Last, but certainly […]
Read MoreThis kitchen looked sad prior to the remodel. The invasive columns made the kitchen feel small and cramped, as the previous island wasn’t designed well around them. The challenge was to redesign the kitchen to match the homeowner’s more contemporary tastes, while updating the layout and making the two imposing columns feel meant-to-be in the new design. The indigo color – such a striking blue color and so fun to design with – was chosen for a crisp, clean-lined, progressive look. All hardware accents are chrome to go with the neoteric feel. The pendants above the island were selected for their modern appearance, as well as for the glass to help keep the space feel open. The new island was designed around the columns while an applied wainscot decorative wood treatment was installed and paint matched the indigo color to make them feel built-in and purposeful. To top them off, the Ravelle wall sconces were installed within the columned wainscots for a bar-like feel. The backsplash tile is dynamic – it has varying shades of glossy grey colors which add texture and dimension. The quartz countertops are a dramatic statement with bold blue veins. An unexpected touch to the modernized […]

See more about our award winning design team here: https://karrbick.com/meet-our-kitchen-and-bath-designers/ This home resides on a beautiful historic street in Webster Groves but it needed more space, as often is the case for old homes. For the new kitchen there was an addition added to the home, but the challenge for Rebekah was to design the space to look old and intentional for the age and architecture of the antique home. Every detail was approached with care to look delicately antiquated. A statement piece was the simple moss green backsplash tile that decorates all the exposed walls and backsplash areas in the kitchen. It’s a simple look – age-old and classic. The rich walnut wood stained cabinets were chosen for all the base cabinets. The upper cabinets and tall columns are a light off white color that look timeless, without the brand-new look. All the wall cabinets were designed with brackets, as well as the base cabinets, which take on a timeless, traditional approach. The Ilve range is a custom-made Italian range that was built to order; It is a work of culinary art that was designed to look old. Antique brass island pendants were chosen for […]
Read MoreDesigned by Rebekah Murphy, installed by Karr Bick Construction. Meet Rebekah here: https://karrbick.com/meet-our-kitchen-and-bath-designers/ The soft, warm hues coming from the beautiful wood in this kitchen find balance with sleek black and white lines. Beautiful wood grain draws the eye in this large and bright light-filled space, while the sleek white perimeter cabinetry and black accents keep everything looking crisp. Grey glass subway tiles serve as the backdrop for the distinctive quartz range backsplash design, coupled with the dramatic black hood with stainless straps – which is accentuated by a dark stained wood shiplap ceiling. The ceiling design was tricky to execute as Rebekah had to incorporate a column to support the load of the house, yet this column sat in a peculiar area of the kitchen which was also on the edge of the sitting room. After much problem-solving we tied in the sitting area ceiling beam design into the column. All the shiplap installation helped to mask the strange ceiling situation, as well as the column conundrum. Captivating Ralph Lauren and Restoration Hardware lighting fixtures in matte black iron and metal finishes top off the look with a refined, unexpected and also equestrian finish. The bold island pendants are […]
Read MoreIntricately designed by Rebekah Moore Murphy, expertly installed by Karr Bick Construction. https://karrbick.com/meet-our-kitchen-and-bath-designers/ Rebekah believes this master bathroom is a sanctuary, as stylish as it is soothing. The light wood stained cabinets have an airy note; slender silhouettes, and glass and mirrored designs incorporated within. The decorative mullion mirrors in the tall vanity cabinet are perfect for reflecting light and opening-up the space. Juxtaposing the smooth wood tones with the rich marble tile is a perfect combination; especially as the wainscot woodwork, trim and paint plan reflect these two juxtaposed colors. The layout of this new bathroom was hard for the homeowners to visualize, as the tall arched cathedral ceiling meant that the toilet room ceiling would need to partially float in the space. It was executed with perfect balance as the floating room mimics the same size as the tall vanity cabinet which flank the door opening. An unexpected touch is the painted woodwork ceiling which adds dimension to the overall space. Even the crown molding was matched for both tall columns. Adding a few gorgeous accents—glimmering polished nickel sconces, the gilded gold chandelier, and the breathtaking Schumacher fabric roman window shades — enriches the look and feel of […]
Read MoreDesigned by Rebekah Moore Murphy, installed by Karr Bick Construction. https://karrbick.com/meet-our-kitchen-and-bath-designers/ Webster Groves has so many beautiful homes and this historic home sits on a particularly stunning street. This kitchen needed a lot of work prior to the remodel; there was an addition which added square footage to the house but didn’t have a kitchen that flowed well or afforded much space for storage. The addition began with very thick walls that looked and felt cumbersome to the layout. Rebekah’s new design moved an old window up so that the perimeter could extend further and offer new sink placement under the window, instead of in the island. Two symmetrical cabinets that sit on the counters with glass X mullions were designed to showcase the homeowner’s beautiful dishes and offer an added layer of charm for the kitchen. The range tile is a Walker Zanger blue ceramic decorative tile which perfectly fits the charm of the homeowner. Wainscot woodwork was added to the thick addition walls and soffit to make them feel intentional and aesthetically pleasing, as well as a beadboard ceiling to echo the age and style of the history of the house. A peninsula was added to the kitchen […]
Read MoreKitchen Designer: Rebekah Moore Murphy The colors of this kitchen and its new design reflect the beauty of the homeowners’ souls and the light they bring into the world each day. Here lived a young and active family who loved their charming Clayton Tudor house as it is old with lots of character and close to their daughters’ school. However, prior to the home remodel, the kitchen was disconnected from the rest of the house with zero sight line from the kitchen to any other room. This posed a problem for the busy family as their time at home was often spent in disconnected spaces and this was precious time that the family was missing out on with each other. It was time to take action! Rebekah removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room and designed a peninsula with a really beautiful and unique hutch at the end. The combination kept the formality of the dining room but gave us the layout we needed for their everyday family life. As far as the materials, we wanted the kitchen to look classic and to belong in the 1929 home, but we also wanted function and resilience. Because the kitchen […]
