What was originally a gloomy and outdated kitchen, soon became a bright and welcoming space. Dark cabinetry was cutting the space in half, which made the space feel like it was caving in on you. The challenge was to design a kitchen that stayed true to the family roots, while also creating a more open and warm environment. The long island allows for large gatherings and additional counter space when cooking with the kids. All the hardware aids into the crisp and simple feeling that the room delivers. One of the most show stopping parts of the room though is a custom backsplash. Not only does it portray a portrait of the family, but it also feeds into the personality of the space. Lastly, details such as the cottage sink, a window seat, and natural lighting really tie the room together. Read MoreBefore it’s makeover, this kitchen was filled with slightly yellow tinted wood. From the ceiling to the floor, you were greeted with a single color. The green countertops attempted to break up this effect but was unsuccessful in its mission. Everything felt very dated. As you can see, things have changed for the better. Now, the kitchen is sleek, elegant, and polished. The white cabinetry contrasts perfectly against the dark wood floor. A blue island ties everything together while also presenting a calming feeling. Though the backsplash tiling sticks to the brighter color scheme, it also increases depth in the space. Also adding significantly to the kitchen is the perfectly paired range hood and chandelier. These two not only work perfectly with each other, but also tie in the contrasting elements of the room. Lastly, the once step-down closet transformed into a stunning mudroom. While it does enhance the aesthetics of the room, it also aids in storage and welcoming visitors back. Thoughtfully designed by Wendy. Read MoreDesigned by Rebekah Murphy, installed by Karr Bick Construction. Meet Rebekah here: https://karrbick.com/meet-our-kitchen-and-bath-designers/ The soft, warm hues coming from the beautiful wood in this kitchen find balance with sleek black and white lines. Beautiful wood grain draws the eye in this large and bright light-filled space, while the sleek white perimeter cabinetry and black accents keep everything looking crisp. Grey glass subway tiles serve as the backdrop for the distinctive quartz range backsplash design, coupled with the dramatic black hood with stainless straps – which is accentuated by a dark stained wood shiplap ceiling. The ceiling design was tricky to execute as Rebekah had to incorporate a column to support the load of the house, yet this column sat in a peculiar area of the kitchen which was also on the edge of the sitting room. After much problem-solving we tied in the sitting area ceiling beam design into the column. All the shiplap installation helped to mask the strange ceiling situation, as well as the column conundrum. Captivating Ralph Lauren and Restoration Hardware lighting fixtures in matte black iron and metal finishes top off the look with a refined, unexpected and also equestrian finish. The bold island pendants are […]

Read MoreIntricately designed by Rebekah Moore Murphy, expertly installed by Karr Bick Construction. https://karrbick.com/meet-our-kitchen-and-bath-designers/ Rebekah believes this master bathroom is a sanctuary, as stylish as it is soothing. The light wood stained cabinets have an airy note; slender silhouettes, and glass and mirrored designs incorporated within. The decorative mullion mirrors in the tall vanity cabinet are perfect for reflecting light and opening-up the space. Juxtaposing the smooth wood tones with the rich marble tile is a perfect combination; especially as the wainscot woodwork, trim and paint plan reflect these two juxtaposed colors. The layout of this new bathroom was hard for the homeowners to visualize, as the tall arched cathedral ceiling meant that the toilet room ceiling would need to partially float in the space. It was executed with perfect balance as the floating room mimics the same size as the tall vanity cabinet which flank the door opening. An unexpected touch is the painted woodwork ceiling which adds dimension to the overall space. Even the crown molding was matched for both tall columns. Adding a few gorgeous accents—glimmering polished nickel sconces, the gilded gold chandelier, and the breathtaking Schumacher fabric roman window shades — enriches the look and feel of […]
Read MoreThis is a perfect example of a small but mighty kitchen design in St. Louis. The removal of a wall allowed this kitchen to open up to a breakfast room which makes this small space feel roomy enough for a young family. The interactions between mom, dad and the kids have been enhanced through the open sightlines and addition of the breakfast bar in the peninsula. Small kitchen design ideas usually focus on space planning. The beautiful and classic details of this kitchen are what make this tiny space so powerful. The bold use of color in the sea glass cabinetry of the peninsula and pantry room mixed with large over scaled pendant lights make you understand there is also much fun to be had here.
