With a long to-do list of projects around the house, the homeowners became overwhelmed and wanted to throw in the towel and move. After much convincing by their daughters, they decided on a complete remodel instead and called Karr Bick to help rescue them. When approaching Designer Wendy, the homeowners had clear insight on what they wanted. With Scandinavian family roots, the goal was to blend functionality and simplicity with natural beauty. Originally, the kitchen was dark and featured several hues of beige. After it’s transformation, this space feels like a breath of fresh air. The moonstone color blocked cabinets add a modern flair. The zellige backsplash, which wraps around the whole kitchen, provides interest and is complimented by dark features. Open wood shelving brings warmth to the kitchen but still rings true of the color theme. The fireplace, which served as the centerpiece of their living room, was completely outdated. The goal was to make the fireplace seem like it was meant to be. With a custom build, the fireplace now reflects simple and functional modernization. Accented blonde wood brings warmth to the space, while also connecting it to the surrounding rooms. In order to open up the space, […]

Read MoreDesigned by Rebekah Moore Murphy, installed by Karr Bick Construction. https://karrbick.com/meet-our-kitchen-and-bath-designers/ Webster Groves has so many beautiful homes and this historic home sits on a particularly stunning street. This kitchen needed a lot of work prior to the remodel; there was an addition which added square footage to the house but didn’t have a kitchen that flowed well or afforded much space for storage. The addition began with very thick walls that looked and felt cumbersome to the layout. Rebekah’s new design moved an old window up so that the perimeter could extend further and offer new sink placement under the window, instead of in the island. Two symmetrical cabinets that sit on the counters with glass X mullions were designed to showcase the homeowner’s beautiful dishes and offer an added layer of charm for the kitchen. The range tile is a Walker Zanger blue ceramic decorative tile which perfectly fits the charm of the homeowner. Wainscot woodwork was added to the thick addition walls and soffit to make them feel intentional and aesthetically pleasing, as well as a beadboard ceiling to echo the age and style of the history of the house. A peninsula was added to the kitchen […]
Read MoreBefore it’s remodel, this space had orange walls, painted furniture, and smaller sized appliances. While this space was practical when originally built, it no longer fit the growing girl that used it. Now, the bathroom speaks of a truly #NothingOrdinary space. The mirrored wall makes the unique ceiling space feel meant to be rather than invading. It’s light and bright, but also has a clear contrast with the black tiled shower. This transformation created a picture perfect space for any teen. Beautifully and thoughtfully designed by Janelle. Installed by Karr Bick Construction. Read MoreFunctional Kitchen Design The homeowners originally wanted to add an addition to the 100+ year old Webster Groves historic home. They didn’t think their current footprint had close to enough space to solve their steep challenges. The original kitchen was tiny, with a fireplace in it that extended throughout all three floors of the house. Rebekah’s solution, as their designer, was to remove the chimney and fireplace out of the whole house and utilize the exterior deck on the back of the house. She moved the powder bathroom to one side of the deck and created a mudroom on the other side. As a result, this allowed the new kitchen to double in size without the need for an addition. All their kitchen dream checklist items transformed to reality. The large Sub-Zero Wolf appliances fit the new design perfectly, including the wine column in the bar. Kitchen Remodel Beauty Rebekah works closely with homeowners to achieve aesthetic goals for the design. They took a British Humphrey Munson minimal approach. Soft two-tone colors were chosen for the Mouser Cabinetry. The rich wood stain was picked carefully to pair with the dynamic wood floors. Marble quartz countertops are mitered to 2” […]
