A Year In Review
This year has been unlike any other. With COVID-19 disrupting the lives of every single person, we were faced with new challenges, hardships, and obstacles to navigate. Along with this though, we had the opportunity to spend time with family, learn new lessons, and build up our resilience. This has truly been an unforgettable journey. In light of everything, we’ve taken the time to reflect on the joys this year brought us.
February
The biggest event in February for us was the Design STL’s Architect & Designer Awards, ADA Awards. Owner Todd won Best Millwork for the family’s home bar. Designer Wendy had 3 nominations in the final round, and won Best Powder Room. Designer Janelle was a finalist in two categories, Traditional Kitchen Greater than 300 sq ft. and Traditional Bathroom Greater than 150 sq ft.. We couldn’t be more proud of the amazing work our team has done!
September
To kick off the Fall season, we welcomed Ashley Willman Obradovits to the team and announced the launch of our new Interior Design department. Ashley, daughter of the late accomplished local designer, Sonja Willman (Summer House), is carrying on her mother’s legacy with her own touch.
October
The Karr Bick family is getting bigger! Designer Ashley announced the pregnancy of her second child! This was truly fantastic news.
November
Designer Janelle’s baby Hazel turned one! Where does the time go! Not only is Hazel the cutest baby ever, but she also has the most adorable nursery.
December
To round out the end of the year, we celebrated a year with City Lights. In late 2019 they decided in Randy’s words, to “put a ring on it.” Together they’ve been creating #NothingOrdinary spaces. And that my friends, is priceless.
Designers Janelle and Wendy also found out that they’d both won an award from STL Homes and Lifestyles Magazine. Janelle was notified she won Gold in Kitchen of the Year, and Wendy won Gold for Best Kitchen under 200 sq ft. A big congratulations to these wonderful ladies!
As the year progressed, our social media presence grew and grew. We feel incredibly proud to say that we officially have over 19,000 followers on Instagram… and growing!!
Rounding It Out
One of our biggest focuses of 2020 was the importance of family, ours and yours. While this is a keystone of Karr Bick anyway, this year it was extra prevalent. Designer Wendy put it best by saying, “Covid has been the biggest factor in my world for 2020. I thought my business would tank, but instead this has been my busiest year ever. I have been fortunate to meet a lot of new clients and work on a lot of very fun projects. One of things that has made me happiest is that part of being busy has been that I have had a LOT of my past clients reach out to me with new projects. It’s always a pleasure to see clients that you became friends with when you worked with them and then you never get to see them anymore after the project is over. When they come back to do more projects, it’s like reuniting with an old friend!”
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything.
